Sydney University is a member of the prestigious Group of Eight, Academic Consortium 21, the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning, the Australia-Africa Universities Network (AAUN), the Association of Commonwealth Universities and the Worldwide Universities Network. The University is also colloquially known as one of Australia's sandstone universities.

Bursaries: The University of Sydney has many scholarships available for international students. There are also scholarships that are funded by the government and various industries. Because of the variety of scholarships on offer, the eligibility criteria for each of them are different. Please read through the conditions of the scholarships thoroughly before applying. Ranking: In 2013, it was ranked 37th and in the top 0.3% in the QS World University Rankings. Five Nobel and two Crafoord laureates have been affiliated with the university as graduates and faculty.[4] Its campus is ranked in the top 10 of the world's most beautiful universities by the British Daily Telegraph and The Huffington Post, spreading across the inner-city suburbs of Camperdown and Darlington . The 2014 Times Higher Education (THE) list, which prioritises research citations, research income, reputation and learning environment, ranked us at 60 out of 400 global universities.

UG:  As an international student, you may be eligible to apply for an undergraduate course on the basis of a secondary qualification you completed in Australia or overseas.

PG: In most cases, you will need to have an undergraduate degree to apply for postgraduate coursework. Some programs require you to have completed this degree in a related field, such as psychology. Other disciplines, such as law and business, are open to graduate students from all backgrounds. Your previous academic performance determines the outcome of your application, and may define the level of postgraduate study you can take. At postgraduate level these may include:
 • A minimum grade point average in your previous degree
 • Relevant professional experience – such as at least three years in a management role to enter a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree
 • Health and security checks for anyone doing fieldwork in New South Wales hospitals or schools
 • A portfolio of work – for example, for entry to our urban design architecture courses.

IELTS Requirements: The University's standard IELTS requirement is an overall score of 6.5 with no band below 6.0; however some faculties and courses have different requirements.

Fees Range: The average tuition fee for undergraduate programs range between $30,000-$39,400. The average tuition fee for postgraduate programs range between $30,000-$39,400.
