About University: Founded in 1972, Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology is spread across four campuses in the west of Ireland. The main campus is on the Dublin Road on the outskirts of Galway. It is the administrative headquarters for the college and has five schools of study, including business, engineering, hotel catering, humanities and science. Also located on this campus is the Innovation in Business Centre, the Lifelong Learning Centre and the Research, Development and Innovation Centre. The Cluain Mhuire campus is located a mile from the main campus on the Monivea Road. It is the location of GMIT's Art, Design and Media college.

There is also a campus in Castlebar, Co Mayo, which is located on approximately 20 hectares of land less than 10 minutes walk from the town. Programmes based in Castlebar include the department of Nursing and Health Sciences and the department of Business, Humanities and Technology. Finally, the Letterfrack campus is located in Connemara. A small village, furniture creation is the primary subject here.

Accommodation: GMIT has a number of purpose built student accommodation areas close to the campus. Ceann Bóirne is situated directly across the road from GMIT. It consists of 11 apartments and accommodation for 43 students. Other options nearby include Gleann na Rí student accommodation, Ashley apartments and Cúirt na Rásaí, which offers a shuttle bus service to and from the main gate and Cluain Mhuire campuses. Students primarily tend to reside in the Glasan apartments, however, as well as Renmore, Merlin or Galway city centre, while Mayo-based students generally live in Castlebar town.
