About University: AUT was originally founded in 1985 as Auckland Technical College. It was renamed and redeveloped many times. In 1989, it was named Auckland Institute of Technology and in 2000 it was given the university status. AUT has its main campus in Wellesley Street in Auckland's Central Business District(CBD) and has three other campuses in North Shore (located on Akoranga Drive in Northcote), South and Millennium Institute Of Sport and Health(Millennium Campus).

AUT enrolled about 27,000 students in 2013. AUT is very well known for its teaching, learning and research approaches. AUT is committed to making a significant contribution to the economic, cultural, social and environmental wellbeing of New Zealand.

It motivates on having a good communication between the student and lecturer. Since becoming an University, AUT has invested a good amount in its Infrastructure, Programmes and its Staff. New Beautiful building like library, design, new engineering and business were also builded. AUT offers over 250 programmes within the Faculties. These programmes ranges from undergraduate to postgraduate (both PhD and Master) degrees, as well as sub-degree qualifications such as diplomas and certificates.

Accommodation:  AUT International House offers residential accommodation for students in the Wellesley Student Apartments. This safe and modern environment provides fully furnished student apartments, each containing 4 or 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a well-equipped kitchen for self-catering. All apartments have single bedrooms with a bed, desk, chair, and wardrobe, and are wired for phone/internet use (no phone or computer included). A Linen Package is required and will cost $120.00. This will be in your room on arrival. You need to provide your own bath towels.

The Wellesley Student Apartments are located a 5-minute walk away from AUT International House and downtown Auckland with shopping, cinemas, theatres, restaurants, art galleries and public transport on your doorstep. Shops and cafes are located nearby.

A communal area on the ground floor provides students with an opportunity to relax and meet with other residents. Onsite laundry facilities are also available. 24-hour onsite management and security services ensures the wellbeing and security of all residents. Students from other departments of AUT also reside in this building. An entrance lobby with reception desk providing service to students and visitors is located on the ground floor.

Admission Requirement*:

Undergraduate:  For Admission in AUT for an undergraduate course, student, applying for a bachelor degree, should have a Higher Secondary School Exam or All-India Senior School certificate with an overall average of 75% and a minimum of 60% in English. For Diploma and Certificate course, Higher secondary certificate (standard xii), minimum 60% is required.

Postgraduate: Students need to have completed one of the following to a merit standard in a relevant field: Bachelor's degree, Graduate diploma, Professional qualification equivalent to a 3-year undergraduate degree or Professional experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree or recognized professional qualification.

IELTS Requirements:  IELTS requirement for an undergraduate course is 6.0 overall with all bands 5.5 or higher. For a postgraduate course, IELTS marks are 6.5 overall with all bands 6.0 or higher.

Fees Range: For an undergraduate course, tuition fees ranges from 12,000- 35,000 NZ$. For a postgraduate course, tuition fees ranges from 25,000 to 35,000 NZ$.
