About The Institute Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) is one of New Zealand's largest institutes of technology, with over 12,000 students in 2011. Established in 1971, SIT has since become famous for its Zero Fees Scheme. The scheme, which is open to New Zealand citizens and permanent residents, sees students save thousands of dollars on the cost of their tertiary education. The Institute is also renowned for the quality of its facilities and equipment. SIT's three main campuses are located in Invercargill with other campuses located in Queenstown, Gore, Christchurch and Auckland.

Accommodation: SIT Apartments- The SIT Apartments are an apartment complex specifically for international students. Single: $160/week pp, Shared single: $90/week pp, Couple: $190/week pp and Family Unit: $270/week pp. Homestays-SIT administers a network of approved homestay hosts, local Kiwi families who host international students. Single: $230/week. SIT Flats-Varies between $80-$150/week pp depending on room. Private accommodation-In addition to SIT Accommodation, there is a range of other accommodation options that you can choose from, including the Invercargill Apartment Hotel, Karon Court, Dan Davin Village and Kelvin House. Prices can vary from $85 to $200 for one room in Invercargill.

Undergraduate: 75% average across 4 academic subjects (excluding Hindi or local language).

Postgraduate:  An appropriate undergraduate degree from a recognised tertiary institution is required.

IELTS Requirements: 

Undergraduate: Academic Score of 6 with no band score lower than 5.5

Postgraduate: Score of 6.5 with no band score lower than 6

Fees Range:

Undergraduate: 8,000 to 18,000NZ$.

Postgraduate: 18, 000 to 20,000NZ$.
